Odessa, TX – On a day filled with fun, excitement, and competition, 27 four-person teams came together to compete in the third annual Compass Athletic Booster Club golf tournament held on Friday at the Ratliff Ranch Golf Links.
Jeremy Dominguez, Mario Moralez, Jason Martinez, and Roy Hernandez were winners of the team competition by carding a 54 on the course. One stroke behind with a 55, the team of Bryan Teeters, Chuck Fields, Jesse Ely, and Mike Herron placed second. Oscar Covos, Matt Castellon, Gary Smith, and Greg Murgia finished in third to round out the Top Three in team standings.
The event offered participants a chance to win a brand new Sewell Ford F-150 for a ‘Hole-In-One’. There were a couple serious shots that almost bagged the up-for-grabs truck but no one was able to cash in and drop a winner. Jason Martinez won in the ‘Longest Drive’ competition on Hole 9. He was followed by Jeff Davis, Jesse Ely, and Bryan Teeters.
Hole 12 of the Ratliff Links played host to the ‘Closest to the Flagstick’ shoot-out, where Oscar Covos made a shot that was only three feet from the hole to take top honors. Jon Ramos (8’1″) finished in second place, followed by Roy Hernandez (10′) and Sonya York (20′).
The event provided a worthwhile cause and the proceeds benefit the Odessa Compass Academy athletes. The golf tournament has become one of the booster club’s largest fundraisers. It assists the organization in supporting the athletic programs, student-athletes, and coaching staffs by providing meals, equipment, uniforms, and many other needed items.
